CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS


We have many needs for volunteer help. The opportunities are numerous and varied, some require specific skills and others do not. These donations of time are invaluable to the running of our organization. Please take a moment to review the following job descriptions and then fill out the attached form and mail it our Volunteer Committee, Concord Art Association, 37 Lexington Road, Concord, MA 01742.

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Juried Exhibitions – The Concord Art Association hosts several juried exhibitions throughout the year: Members Juried I, Members Juried II, the Frances N. Roddy Competition and New American Crafts. Our juried exhibitions require volunteers for several different jobs which are composed of but not limited to: mailings, intake of art, installation of exhibitions, inventory, receptions and out-take. No experience necessary. Orientation available to new volunteers.

Monthly Exhibitions – Assist in preparation of art exhibitions. Responsibilities include: preparing gallery walls (spackle, sand, paint and clean), hang art, label art, take art down and prepare walls. Some experience preferred.

Exhibition Receptions – Provide refreshments and hor’s d’oeuvres for monthly receptions. Create an attractive table setting and a few flower arrangements. Requires one individual per reception to organize volunteers for food, flowers and clean up. No experience necessary.

Gallery Talks, Panel Discussions, Lectures – Arrange chairs, tables, slide projector and screen. Provide light refreshments when needed. For larger events, pick up of additional chairs and additional AV equipment. No experience necessary.

Mailings – Labeling, stamping,collating: exhibition postcards, class brochures, newsletters,
and membership mailings. No experience necessary.

Special Events – Paint the Town (May), Art Demonstration and Family Fun Day (September or October), Creative Black-Tie (January). Each event requires co-chairs and then volunteers to assist in the organization of event. Good organizational skills for certain jobs, no experience necessary for others.

West Concord Family Festival Table (September) – Present a fun and colorful information table for the annual West Concord Family Festival Day. This is an opportunity to get our name out into the public and pass out class brochures for the fall/winter semester. No experience necessary.
