ALBERT HANDELL’S ON-LOCATION LANDSCAPE PAINTING WORKSHOP

MONDAY, JULY 20 through FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2009

This outdoor painting workshop will be an intensive, rewarding and fun week of study and painting with Master Artist Albert Handell. The workshop is geared toward the serious student of the landscape who has experience working in pastels, oils or water media. Albert Handell co-teaches his workshops with his wife – artist/teacher/co-author, Anita Louise West, and students of all levels are welcome.

THE WORKSHOP BEGINS on Monday morning at 9:30 AM at the Art Association. There will be a presentation by Albert and Anita. They will explain the schedule for the coming week and review the basics of plein air painting, including materials, portability, and outdoor lighting conditions and they will also present to you their unique color theory that relates to all paint media and which, when understood, eliminates the problems of ‘muddy colors’. This meeting, as well as critiques during the week, will be at the workshop studio at the Concord Art Association. For your convenience, the studio will open at 9:00 AM. You are urged to come early. The presentation will begin promptly at 9:30 AM.

EVERY MORNING during the workshop, Mr. Handell will give a demonstration. In the afternoon, he and Anita will give individual help to each artist while painting at one of several special locations, followed by a daily review of the day’s painting.

On Friday, there will be an in-depth critique of every individual’s work, including works done during the workshop as well as previous work (bring your photos, slides, or originals). You will receive specific recommendations based on that overview.

ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED and spaces in the workshop are already filling up. To RESERVE YOUR SPACE, call Michele J. Kenna, Education and Public Program Coordinator for the Concord Art Association, phone 978-369-2578 x 13.
