Victoria
Pearmain is a young artist currently living in Georgia, whose
primary interests is painting landscapes
on site. She particularly enjoys painting older architectural
struct-ures, such as houses or industrial buildings within the
landscape, places that have been altered by time and nature.
She
prefers painting on gessoed watercolor paper for her small format
paintings. Her aim is to achieve a sense of time and place, a
little window into a small corner of the world that catches the
viewers eye.
Inspired
by American and European landscape painters such as Hopper, Burchfield.
Twachtman, Corot and Millet, Pearmain explores the great outdoors
documenting serene and forgotten spots. Born in Lincoln, MA, Victoria
Pearmain graduated with a BFA in painting from Massachusetts College
of Art. Victoria's work is included in a number of private and
corporate collections.

Donna
Dodson
New Sculpture
March
8 - April 2, 2005
Donna
Dodson derives much of her influence for her sculpture from Egyptian
statuary of animals and from her premed
studies when she had an opportunity to view cadavers of animals
and humans. These studies form a strong understanding of pro-portion,
structure and design. Her medium is an array of wood, some of
which has been given to her by friends who have come across interesting
sections of wood. All of her characters of the animal kingdom
are presented with a whim-sical and sentimental approach as noted
in their titles, "Mutt God," "Bat Goddess,"
and "Rabbit Woman." Their titles are punctuated with
subtle sections of paint, such as the white painted toenails and
green tusks on "Madam Elephant."
A
graduate of Wellesley College, Dodson had studied with renowned
sculptor Joseph Wheelwright for three years. She has shown extensively
throughout New England and is currently represented by Artana
Gallery, Brookline, MA, Gallery Wright, Wilmington, VT and So
Hyun Gallery, New York City, NY.
