WATERDANCE SERIES

The Waterdance Series, which I have been working on for the past four years, currently consists of 18 infrared gelatin silver and 5 color prints of draped nudes swimming. The models are constantly moving and the wet fabric gives an abstract, almost mysterious, quality to the images. They seem almost like otherworldly sea creatures with the glowing bodies, inky black water and dripping sheer fabric. Although I have done some in color, I prefer the sensuous quality of the rich black and white prints.
the series of images seems to flow from one to the other as in a fluid waterdance.
“Aquaviva Duo” is an experimentally-toned pair of infrared gelatin silver prints, and is one-of-a-kind.

“STAR” SWIMMER SERIES

The Star Swimmer series, which includes the Daydreamers, was shot on Cape Cod in a private pond that was teeming with little star-like flowers in the shallow water. Several of the images were taken with the Holga plastic “art” camera on 120 film and doubled up on exposures giving a sense of reflection or movement to the model. The Star Swimmer series was completed in 2001.
