Beginning Oil Painting

Do you want to try oil painting for the first time or review and build on experience you have? Oils are perhaps the most forgiving of media and allow incredible flexibility in how they are used. As we explore some of that flexibility, we’ll focus on process rather than product and on working with what happens as you paint rather than with the pursuit of control.

We will assume you are new to oil paint (or that you won’t object to covering some basics as a welcome reminder).

There really are no rules for painting, but you will be given some challenging constraints which simplify the process and stress learning, problem-solving, and exploring beyond your comfort zone.
