Explorations in Gel Plate Printing

A gel plate is a stimulating and immersive medium with a unique openness to experimentation in the monoprinting process—without the need for a printing press! Implementing simple tools and exploring image transfers, we will create papers for multimedia collage as well as multi-layered registered monoprints.

We will discover and discuss attributes of different papers, paints, and processes with color layering, stencils, and mark-making. There will be a focus on laser image transfer and other resist methods to develop your personal imagery.

This workshop is for anyone new to the gel plate printing as well those wanting to explore additional techniques for their art tool box.
