In Black and White: Large-Scale Collages

All levels welcome.

In this one-day workshop, we will work big, bold, and in black and white, making large-scale collages. Our day will begin with a series of drawings made with a sumi brush and black acrylic paint. We will then use these drawings as collage paper; cutting, pasting, and rearranging them into new compositions. Participants will learn how to further alter these collages by adding black paint, white paint and/or more white paper. Finally, we will discuss how these large-scale collages can serve as the catalyst for more work back in participants’ own studios. A day to experiment, loosen up, improvise, and abstract!

Please note the class registration fee covers the cost of almost all of the supplies needed for this workshop. Participants will only need to bring a pair of scissors.
