IN PERSON: One-Day Introduction to Japanese Woodblock Printmaking LIMITED TO 8 STUDENTS
|Class Start Date:||April 9, 2022|
|Class End Date||April 9, 2022|
|Time||10am - 4pm|
One-Day Intensive Introductory Workshop into Japanese Woodblock Printmaking in Beautiful Concord Center:
The Japanese developed woodblock printing using water as the medium: brushes to apply colors to the blocks, a hand-held baren instead of a press to transfer colors from carved blocks to the papers. It is low-tech, non-toxic printmaking. Matt will offer the workshop as a hands-on one-day immersion into aspects of the designing, carving and printing with an eye to sharing tricks and techniques adaptable to other art-making methods (watercolor painting or western-style block printing). Emphasis will be on introductions to the tools and materials involved in the process. The class is limited to 8 students.
There will be a separate materials fee of $35 that is paid directly to the instructor for access to the tools and supplies needed for the day. Bringing a sketchbook, drawing tools, and a few old rags is encouraged but not obligatory.
