“Drawing is a form of probing. And the first generic impulse to draw derives from the human need to search, to plot points, to place things and to place oneself.” —John Berger

In drawing, form and meaning are interrelated. Impactful drawings rely on organization and technique as much as they do on intuition and feeling. Together, we’ll explore the materials, elements, and energies of drawing: line, shape, volume, texture and value, organize them into compositions, and learn to employ what we’ve learned in service of personal expression. Kate will help you discover the joy of drawing without fear of perfection, leading you through simple exercises designed to help you find your artistic voice, no matter your skill or experience.
