Photo Transfer Workshop

I will be introducing you to the photo transfer process that I love! You will learn how to transfer your photos to printmaking paper to create unique, often surprising imagery. I will cover printing your images onto transfer film, distressing the edges of the film before transferring, applying the transfer liquid onto the paper, and rolling the film onto the paper to complete the transfer. Once printed, you can experiment with coloring or adding text to the piece and learn how to rip the paper to create deckled edges.

We will be using the transfer process developed by Bonnie Pierce Lhotka for her DASS Workshops. I will show examples of transferring to other substrates, metal and wood, but I will not be teaching those techniques. I will also demonstrate how I mount and frame my images.

NOTE: Before the workshop, you will email me your jpg images so I can print them onto the transfer film and bring them to the workshop. I will explain this simple printing process, so you can continue doing transfers on your own. For printing the film, I prepare the image using photoshop and print them with an Epson printer. Any good photo printer should work as long as it uses pigment ink.
