This two-day workshop will focus on the translation of mark making from small to large scale. During the first day, we will draw from observation of local natural spaces, taking time to compose our image and weed through a complex arrangement of marks. On the second day, we’ll return to the studio to scale the preparatory drawings into large, thoughtful, and resolved artworks. Painting, drawing, and mixed media/collage will suit the process, but students are welcome to work in whatever medium is most comfortable. By examining the work of relevant artists, reading, discussion, and working methodically, we will conquer any fear of a large surface!
