The Stylized Still Life

All levels welcome.

In this class, students will explore acrylic still life painting with a focus on composition and observation of light and shadow. Students will expand their knowledge of color mixing and painting techniques while creating their own still life paintings. Instructor demos will include how to create an underpainting and how to use the painting techniques of impasto, scumbling, and glazing to create textured paint strokes and fine details. Short slide presentations of still life paintings by local and master artists will be shared for style inspiration. The class will combine instructor demonstration with work time devoted to individual instruction.
