Richard will give an instructor’s introduction to his approach and process of painting tightly rendered watercolors from photographs. Completed painting examples will be shared with a wide-ranging discussion of materials, strategies, and techniques to achieve multiple effects. Various but limited demonstrations will illustrate his method of working and thought process.

Artist Demo: Realistic Watercolor Painting from Photographs with Richard Denzer
Richard Denzer has been painting in watercolor for more htan 45 years. While primarily self-taught, he has taken watercolor workshops at the MFA, Boston and with painters William Ternes (MA), Robert J. O’Brien (VT), and Bradley Hendershot (PA/ME). In the early 1990s, he started Curb Appeal Portraits, producing watercolor house portraits for local realtors and homeowners. For the past 12 years or so, he has been teaching watercolor painting for the Dover Community Education Department as well as the Hopkinton Center for the Arts. While he is often attracted to architectural subjects, he also paints landscapes, pet and people portraits.
