I paint my colorful acrylic landscapes outdoors.
Painting directly from nature causes me to respond
instinctively and spontaneously to my subject; there
is no time to overwork a painting and rob it of its
freshness. Acrylics provide vibrant color and dry
quickly, allowing visible, expressive brushstrokes to
remain distinct. I want my paintings to crystallize
the experience of enjoying the outdoors by emphasizing
the elements of a scene that most contribute to its
own unique beauty. My work, along with some of my
ideas and tips for painters, can be viewed on my web
site, www.swaluk.com. Please look for my work in the
March 2007 issue of The Artist’s Magazine as part of
an upcoming feature on 20 emerging artists.
