“The title of this show, ‘Interior,’ refers quite literally to the subject matter depicted; the dining room is the center of the action in my house. But the title also refers to my approach to painting. I paint the people, objects and spaces most familiar to me. I often work from candid photographs taken with my phone, a tool that allows me to capture the chaos and the beauty of ordinary moments. The results are interior impressions that are a combination of observation, memory and invention. They reflect my inner thoughts and, I hope, reveal something about the inner life of my family.”
