Paintings from Spannocchia, Italy
A group of twelve eager painters, instructor, Ilana Manolson, and program coordinator, Michele Kenna, spent an enchanting nine days in the classic Tuscan landscape that one dreams of at the spectacular Castello di Spannocchia.
The elegant and old Castello estate surrounded by tall stately cypress trees, flowers and lemon trees, with views of faraway hills, along with that special Tuscan light, provided endless beauty and inspiration for the group.
The subjects to paint were boundless! Orange roof tiled farmhouses, lush lavender and rosemary bushes growing wild, fields of olive trees, expansive views of the distant hills, soft morning sunrises, intense golden sunsets, spectacular evening fireflies – everywhere you looked there was a beautiful scene in front of you.
This exhibit demonstrates the rich variety of subjects at Spannocchia as seen through the artists’ eyes, and also their different interpretations and styles. We hope you enjoy this show and that it captures and conveys a slice of life in the beautiful Tuscan landscape experienced by our talented group of painters.
