“All that is solid melts into air”
—Karl Marx
“My work considers change and transformations both on a personal and on a global level. The visual qualities of icebergs melting represent what is ephemeral and impermanent. Not ever having seen icebergs, I felt free to imagine them. My themes broadened into other fleeting phenomena and forces, including netlike structures and circulatory systems. Before I knew it, suns, moons, meteors, and stars appeared in my work.We are part of a vast universe that we are barely getting to know. What I do know is that the world is a miraculous place and that we’d better start appreciating and protecting it.”
—Willy Garver
